Coaching focuses on unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. The role of the coach is to supports the individual to identify, focus on, and achieve what is important to them in a way that is supportive and non-judgemental. It is non-directive and aimed at helping you decide on your own goals and find you own solutions. I offer two types of coaching services at the moment – PhD coaching and career coaching.

What does coaching involve?

Coaching normally consists of confidential one hour long sessions which can take place over phone or Skype (or face to face if you happen to be located in Birmingham/Walsall area).

We will start by looking at what  you want to achieve and how you will know you got there – the goal could be to finish your PhD by a certain time or to explore new career options. It’s perfectly OK if you are not 100% sure where you want to start as coaching is a fantastic tool to help provide you with that clarity and identify what is really important for you.

What will happen at each session?

As a coach, I will offer you  support so that you can identify solutions, set goals and actions which are in line with your own values and appropriate to your own context. I will quite likely give you homework and/or signpost you to additional resources and will continue checking with you if the coaching process meets your needs.

Support between sessions

Please feel free to e-mail or call me between scheduled sessions if you need some urgent advice, have a problem, just need some support or want to share a success with me. I will endeavour to get back to you within 24 hours.

How long will it take?

Coaching is a focused and time-limited process, however long-lasting change doesn’t happen overnight! I usually work with clients in a block of six sessions as that does allow to make considerable progress, however I can offer shorter coaching packages as well, click here to find out more.
